The 9th Annual ARCS Research Conference will be held June 14-16, 2017 at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University, the Netherlands.
We’re excited to announce that, for the first time, the ARCS Annual Research Conference will be held outside of the United States. The conference chair is Frank Wijen, Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. The conference will bring together scholars from a variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives interested in advancing research on corporate sustainability. ARCS is a consortium of universities and individuals, and serves as a professional society of scholars studying the interface between business and sustainability. ARCS provides data, tools, and networking opportunities to researchers who are developing a greater understanding of the opportunities and limits of policies and strategies to foster sustainable business.
RSM is committed to promoting corporate sustainability and high ethical standards in research, teaching, and service. We have faculty and staff members who dedicate themselves to embedding these issues into coursework and extracurricular activities. We want to ensure that our students understand and acknowledge that their managerial decisions profoundly affect society, and it is our ambition that our graduates will be equipped to make sustainable business decisions.
As part of ARCS’ mission to foster first-rate research and build the community of scholars in this domain, we hold an annual research conference designed to bring together scholars interested in corporate sustainability strategy and management. The inaugural conference was held in 2009, hosted by the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan. The conference rotates annually among ARCS members.

REGISTER FOR CONFERENCE THROUGH EVENTBRITE: Registration Deadline is June 4, 2017
From Amsterdam Airport to Rotterdam Central station: In order to get from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Rotterdam Central railway station, it is most convenient to take the frequently running, high-speed Intercity Direct train, which takes 26 minutes. The regular train takes 53 minutes. You can buy an ‘OV Chipcard’ from the ticket machines at Schiphol Airport, just before reaching the platforms. On your card, you can put credit for all public transport in the Netherlands. A credit of 50 euros should suffice for the train ride (both ways) and local public transport during the conference. Don’t forget to check in at Schiphol prior to descending the escalator (and pay the high-speed supplement at the designated pole on the platform) and to check out as you leave the Rotterdam railway station.
From Rotterdam Central station to Erasmus University: To get to the conference venue (the Woudestein campus, Burgemeester Oudlaan 50) from Rotterdam Centraal railway station, take tram line 7, 21, or 24 towards ‘De Esch’. This is a direct connection, which takes almost half an hour. Get off at the stop ‘Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam’. From there on it is a two-minute walk to the Erasmus University Campus (follow the crowd of students!). For this tram, you can also use the ‘OV Chipcard’. Don’t forget to check in as you enter the tram and to check out as you leave it.
